the photography:
the weather yesterday and into last night (as we sat in my house listening to the tornado warnings from 8-11 pm) was especially craptastic. today’s weather? the opposite. gorgeous, breezy, perfect. if anything, the wind was a bit strong today. but that did not stop me from taking a walk around the office. shots are from the standard 5 block radius walk.

the music:
dave t. hooked me up with a copy of the new cursive disk. i sorta liked the last one (Happy Hollow) and the one before that (Ugly Organ) belongs in my top 50 of all time. over the course of the day (i have spun the record about 3 times in it’s entirety) this new record has grown on me. the last song is so strong that it makes you want to listen to the whole album again from the beginning. that rarely happens. i feel like these days, the last 3 songs on a record are there so that the band can call it an album’s worth of material when they actually should have put out an EP. this last song shows off tim kasher’s confessional writing style at it’s best. a great build it up tune complete with horns and a rousing chorus. it’s really a great way to send the listener home. turning point lyric?

you’re young and you’re gonna be someone

and you’re old and you’re ashamed of what you’ve become

well take a look around you, you’re preaching to the choir!
